Design Rotterdam presents:
VOLLAERSZWART
March 16th - May 4th
2003
The design duo Madje Vollaers and Pascal Zwart have been
involved with projects in public spaces for the past 10 years.
From design exhibitions for DROOG Design, autonomous art, scenery
and visual work for Holland Festival, to dressing up the city
center of Amsterdam for the royal wedding ceremony of Willem-Alexander
and Maxima.
The website vollaerszwart.com
will be launched too, and offers an overview of their work in the past
10 years.
The VollaersZwart
studio was founded in 1991 by Madje Vollaers and Pascal Zwart as a design
office for interdisciplinary design and visual communication.
Within their practice, VollaersZwart are looking for the interaction between
different disciplines such as architecture, sculpture, fashion, culture
and communication.
The public domain functions as a podium for their design activities, in
which the interaction between architecture, the public, and the functionality
and atmosphere of a space are playing an important role.
The past 10 years
arose designs for installations, festivals, eye catchers, and scenery,
as well as high sculpture and art in the public domain and city dressing.
The exhibition gives an overview of how the design quality and the personal
signature of VollaersZwart have developed during this period.
