MNO Easy Dutch

MNO = Jan Melis & Ben Oostrum, an industrial designer and a sculptural artist. Jan graduated from the Design Academy in Eindhoven; Ben graduated from the Arts Academy in Rotterdam. MNO was founded in 1999 after a joined exhibition. At the SaloneSatellite2002 in Milan, MNO presented their latest products, amongst others the Easy Chair, the Menorah, the Cross Light and the Y-bone. They were accompanied by the MNO classics like the pill, donut, flux and module.

The successful presentation in Milan will be seen in Rotterdam. MNO is mainly working in the field of furniture and lighting design as well as interior design under assignment. The designs of MNO distinguish themselves through original concepts, innovative materials and techniques and aesthetic shapes and colours.

Products by MNO (Jan Melis and Ben Oostrum), are included in the collections of: DMD in The Hague, Droog Design in Amsterdam, Cor Unum in Den Bosch, MoMA retail in New York, Planet in Amsterdam, Totem Design in New York as well as in the collections of Central Museum Utrecht and Museum Boymans van Beuningen Rotterdam.

New products:
The Easy Chair is constructed from new lightweight yet sturdy foam; the chair comes in various bright woollen covers. Placing them next to each other forms a couch, opposite each other a chaise longue comes into existence.

The Modular Menorah is a polished aluminium candleholder for the Hanukah festival, which can be put together in many different ways. Produced by Totem Design, New York.
Dim: height 10 cm.

The Cross-Light is a roto-moulded connectable light; it can be used as a pendant as well as table light. When the cross-light is switched of it produces an alienating after-glow. Material: Polyethylene.
Dim: 38 x 38 x 38 cm, colours: white-afterglow and orange.

The Y-bone is a modular element to make organic-like structures. For in- and outdoor use. Various materials.
Dim: 22 x 13 x 11 cm, various colours.

Classics:
Pill is a pouf with an innovative production technique; the outside is of rotation moulded elastic PE, the inside is filled with soft PUR foam. These materials make the pill indestructible as well as comfortable.
Dim: 60 x 35 cm, colours: pebble grey and bright magenta.

Donut is a seating object made of comfortable soft foam with a strong, elastic coating. Due to the outspoken dimensions and shape the donut is as well seating-, as play-, as art object.
Dim: 100 x 40 cm. Available on commission base in a range of colours.

MODULE, which functions as a coffee table, small bench or when joined together as a cabinet. This product is made of frame foam with a flexible coating.
Dim: 110 x 55 x 40cm, various colours.

Flux is a series of ceramic pendant lights based on the repetition of a module, which flow into each other.
Dim: varies, material: glazed ceramics.
