Jan Broekstra, Galerie VIVID Rotterdam

January 29 till March 18, 2012

In 2003, nine years ago Galerie VIVID presented a unique 'food-design' exhibition by Jan Broekstra. Jan transformed the gallery space into a temporary restaurant with his own porcelain plates, a porcelain table, a 'build-in kitchen' and hand-blown lamps. Each week he prepared and served an excellent dinner round this porcelain table. Some people were lucky to experience this special supper.
From January 29 till March 18, 2012 Galerie VIVID in Rotterdam will again present work by Jan Broekstra. One thing for sure it won't be a simple display of artifacts. Unique hand-blown lamps with LED lighting and many self-produced porcelain objects will show what is possible when craftsmanship and endless creativity meet. The highlight of this exhibition will be a geometric bathroom with translucent porcelain tiles.
Don't miss the opening on Sunday January 29: Broekstra will install in front of the gallery a new 'food-experience'.

Galerie VIVID

Contemporary Design and Art

Galerie VIVID, established in 1999 by Saskia Copper and Aad Krol, was one of the first galleries to exhibit contemporary design in the context of both design and art. The gallery’s solo exhibitions have presented important designers/artists such as Ettore Sottsass, Hella Jongerius, Studio Job, Atelier van Lieshout, Slothouber & Graatsma and Jaime Hayon. In 2010, the gallery moved to the Red Apple Building, one of Rotterdam’s new landmarks.

Galerie VIVID, opgericht in 1999 door Saskia Copper en Aad Krol, was een van de eerste om hedendaags design te tonen in de context van zowel design als kunst. VIVID presenteerde solotentoonstellingen van o.a.
